Judge Shankar Sridevi Encourages Students to Shun Ragging and Drug Abuse
Anti-Ragging and Drug Awareness Program Emphasizes the Importance of Responsible Conduct

Judge Shankar Sridevi, the Principal Senior Civil Judge of Ibrahimpatnam, delivered a compelling appeal to students, urging them to distance themselves from the harmful practices of ragging and drug abuse on Saturday. Her message was part of an anti-ragging and drug awareness program organized at Guru Nanak Educational Institutions in Ibrahimpatnam, a significant initiative aimed at promoting responsible behavior and fostering a safe and inclusive educational environment.
During the program, Judge Shankar Sridevi and other speakers emphasized the adverse consequences of engaging in ragging and drug abuse. The speakers noted the increasing prevalence of these issues in the education sector and underscored the urgency of addressing them. Students were educated about the laws and penalties related to ragging and drug abuse in Telangana and were strongly encouraged to abstain from these activities.
Judge Shankar Sridevi took the opportunity to explain the appeal processes available through various legal channels, such as the Tribunal, District Court, High Court, and Supreme Court, should students encounter issues related to ragging or any other matter requiring legal intervention.
Senior advocate Ravi emphasized that students found guilty of ragging would face immediate suspension and expulsion from hostels, along with the cancellation of their admission. Non-attendance of classes would also lead to suspension. These stern consequences were conveyed to deter any involvement in ragging.
Dr. S. Srinath Reddy, Principal of GNIT, shed light on the anti-ragging laws and guidelines of Guru Nanak Institutions. He clarified the civil and criminal actions that would be taken against those engaged in ragging and emphasized that ragging was strictly prohibited within the education system. He urged students to report incidents of ragging to their teachers promptly. He reminded students that their parents held high hopes for them and advised them not to tarnish their promising futures through involvement in ragging.
Speakers at the program also stressed the importance of treating female students with respect and dignity.
Additional Civil Judge K. Nagaraju, the guest of honor, praised the youth as the backbone of the nation and encouraged them to distance themselves from the harmful practice of ragging. He expressed his wish for all students to study together in harmony and strive for higher achievements. The program attracted a large number of students, reinforcing the collective commitment to creating a safe and conducive learning environment that upholds values of respect and responsibility.
